Hungary Forward Barnabas Varga Stable in Hospital After Horrific Euro 2024 Injury

Budapest, Hungary

June 23, 2024

Hungary forward Barnabas Varga is stable in hospital after suffering a horrific facial injury in the country's Euro 2024 clash with Germany. Varga was stretchered off the pitch in the first half of the match after colliding with Germany defender Antonio Rudiger, and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) has released a statement confirming that Varga has suffered broken bones to his face, but that he is now in a stable condition. The MLSZ also thanked the medical staff at the stadium for their quick and professional response.

Varga's injury overshadowed Hungary's 2-1 defeat to Germany, leaving the team facing an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout stages of Euro 2024. Hungary will now face Scotland in their final group game on June 27, and will need to win by a significant margin to have any chance of progressing.
